What if we just said yes?

“Anything. A prayer of surrender that will spark something.” – Jennie Allen

Anything is a book that has been sitting on my desk for way too long that was loaned to me by a friend who has faith that inspires and challenges me to my core. To be honest, I’ve been afraid to read it. There’s a huge part of me that wants to run wildly into the unknown with God. I’ve done it more than once in my life and quite frankly, I’m feeling old and tired and I kinda sorta really feel like I don’t want to right now…

But yet, I do.

There’s this unrest in me that I can’t explain. I’ve gone through some tough seasons in recent years that have caused me to really consider what is important to me and in life. And I have a hunger growing inside of me to see God’s power moving through and around me that I cannot quiet. There is no silencing it and I cannot escape it.

I’ve been reading Anything in small excerpts. Sometimes a chapter, sometimes only a few pages and I try to digest what it’s saying to me. What is God asking me to do?

Say yes. That’s what. He wants me to seek Him, listen, and say yes.

Even if it doesn’t make sense. Even if I don’t feel ready. Even if it sounds crazy – say yes.

So, what if we just said yes? What if we took the crazy idea that we’ve been praying about whether we should or shouldn’t do, and if we see that it doesn’t conflict with scripture or God’s character – what if we just said yes?

What if we said yes? What if we trusted that the promises in His Word are true?

What if we were willing to jump into His unknown, fully trusting that He’s big enough to catch us, and caring enough to be with us the whole way?

What is your yes? What’s holding you back? What will it take for you to say yes and trust that He’s good?

Plant these promises deep into your heart:

  • Jeremiah 29:11
  • Joshua 1:9
  • Exodus 14:14
  • Proverbs 3:5-6

Let’s pray crazy prayers, and believe crazy things, and say yes. This life is too short to hold back – and if our hearts are in line with His, there are literally souls at risk. YOU MATTER. You make a difference, and you may just be the person to plant the seed that leads a weary person back to their Savior.

Just say yes.

Hi Amy! I am your cousin Tiffany, Cindy’s daughter, I just found this site today. I am on the verge of tears right now. I would love to find that book. I struggle daily with sin and what is right and what is wrong. I want to follow in your footsteps. I would to have the faith that you share daily. I mean don’t get me wrong I have faith. I just want it to be as strong as yours. There are so many questions that I have unanswered. There are so many things that I am unsure of. I want to know the Bible front to back and be able to quote scriptures. I pray every night and every morning for God to direct me each day and show me the path that I should be on. But how do you know when he answers you??

Oh Tiffany, I’m so honored and humbled at your kind words. Please know that you are not alone, and those desires to know God’s Word deeply and to know His Heart are exactly where to start! I’ve been following Him for years, so I’ve gone through a lot of growth over the years for sure. But it all started with and continues out of a desire to know Him and His Word. The very best place to know Him deeper is to spend time in the Word and to pray that He help you understand what you’re reading. Another great thing is to make sure you are plugged into a great church that is helping you grow in your knowledge of God and His Word. It’s a huge part of growing in your faith, being a part of a body of believers that are growing together and loving each other as discipleship is occurring. Many years ago I prayed that God would lead me to the place I was supposed to call home for my church. And He did! It took a little while to find it, but it’s honestly as simple as asking, and believing. Feel welcome to message me anytime, I am praying for you that He help you grow as you continue to seek Him. His Word promises that if we seek Him, we will find Him. Hugs and love to you sweet lady!! (and by the way, it’s okay that you have unanswered questions, we all work through doubts. It’s part of growing, and I assure you I have my days too! We are human, and there’s enough of His grace to cover us and His love to help us through. One of my favorite Bible passages is Psalm 139:1-18, I love the picture it paints for me that no matter how far I feel I’ve gone, I cannot escape His love. Same for you!! And His thoughts for me – you – are so numerous that even the sand in all the earth can’t outnumber them!! He loves you Tiffany, and I’m confident He is delighted that you desire more of Him!!)
